i have no idea. i mean, we're talking a bb here...maybe this is my ignorance showing, but there can't be that much difference when aiming for man-sized targets. can there?

something as little as a missing hop-up nub can drop the range of an AEG to about 40 feet.

deformities in a bb can cause jams, decrease of fps, inconsistent flight path, etc.

I think i've been hanging around too many airsoft snipers....

FPS is actually a really petty thing to be worried about... I'd rather have a piece that performs to its utmost than having something that shoots half way decent, especially when factoring in ammo.. yenno? ahah

When push comes to shove, just call in the new Airsoft 500 lb JDAM. Saturate the area with 2 billion BB's.

Got a bag of Airsplat .20 BB's and took them out for a comparison test in my upgraded SCAR-L with tightbore barrel, running about 380 fps. Fired a couple dozen Airsplats and a couple dozen Excels. We didn't notice an appreciable difference in performance.

I could be mistaken.

Then again, marksmen are really picky about what kinda ammo they use and we're not exactly marksmen, right? haha

Yeah. A REAL marksman would personally turn each BB from solid ABS plastic on his computer controlled lathe.
